Although cesarean sections are frequently necessary, they can leave enduring effects on a woman's body. In the United States alone, nearly 40 million women have had C-sections, yet many do not realize the profound influence these surgical scars can have on both physical and emotional health. Whether a cesarean birth happened recently or years in the past, the resulting scars can lead to unforeseen challenges well beyond the initial recovery period.

C-Section Scars are more than just skin-deep - causing:

  • Chronic Post Surgical Pain
  • Activating Sympathetic Stress
  • Injure & Tighten Skin
  • The formation of Internal Adhesions
  • Stagnate Energy, Lymph and Circulation
  • Dysbiosis (Tummy Problems) and more

SRT is highly effective for reducing scars, helping to minimize both their shape and size. In fact, cesarean sections are among the most common surgical procedures—around 1.3 million are performed annually in the United States—yet many people do not realize how much these scars can impact overall health.

Scientific findings show that C-section scars can negatively affect the body by restricting or binding fascia, muscles, nerves, bones, organs, and various systems. This restriction acts like a “straitjacket,” limiting circulation and energy flow and ultimately interfering with health and well-being. Scars also upregulate the sympathetic nervous system and act as stress triggers, setting the stage for sickness and pain.

These combined factors often result in discomfort and disease. Indeed, numerous studies have linked Chronic Post-Surgical Pain (CPSP), back pain, shoulder pain, and neuropathic pain directly to C-sections.

Microcurrent (a direct current that occurs in nature) from the Dolphin MPS units are applied directly to the scar, with each session lasting from 15-30 minutes depending on the surface area being treated. Scar tissue & adhesions can be released in as little as 2-3 visits, and usually have drastic improvement in appearance, color, soreness, and tissue mobility  within 1-3 sessions

How It Works

The technique uses a safe, low-level electrical impulse on both sides of the physical scar at the same time. This microcurrent works to relax and diminish scar tissue, which can otherwise interfere with muscle function, restrict fascia, and cause discomfort. By reducing these restrictions and adhesions in the connective tissue, the healing process is accelerated, allowing new mothers to lift, walk, exercise, and care for their babies with less pain.

The number of sessions required depends on the scar’s depth and your body’s healing capacity. Your registered practitioner will discuss this with you during your appointment. Often, we can visibly improve a scar’s appearance and mobility in just one treatment.

Common scars we address include those from breast augmentation, reduction, or mastectomy, as well as C-sections, removal of deep moles or skin lesions, facelifts, and trauma scars—essentially any surgical scars. Regardless of how old the scar is, we can typically achieve noticeable physical changes!

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon after a C-Section can I start scar release therapy?

You can typically begin C-Secton scar release therapy immediately after surgery (in recovery room) or you can start treatment when you are home.

Can I have scar release therapy if my C-Section was years ago?

Yes, scar release therapy can be effective even if your C-Section was many years ago, even it its 20, 30 or even 40+ years old.

Is the SRT therapy painful?

The therapy is not painful as the minute the DC micocurrent applied is 98% LESS voltage than any other electro-therapy device on the market. However, some of the points might be tender and patients may feel a slight tingling sensation due to the microcurrent therapy.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required varies depending on the severity and how old the scar is. Scar life formation is around 2 1/2 years, so it is recommended that post-operative scars be treated throughout their years-long lifespan.

Is Dolphin Scar Release Therapy Safe?

Not only is the non-invasive Dofphin Scar release safe, but it is also very healthy for the mother. Releasing scars improve HRV and vagal tone, two key elements that improve health, vitality and longevity.

Are there any side effects?

Adverse side effects are rare, but some patients might experience a neurological "unwinding" after the treatments, especially if the scar formation was severe or traumatic.

C-Section Scar Release Therapy (SRT) is a straightforward yet highly effective method for reducing the harmful impact of scars.

Drawing on the latest scientific advances to address both chronic pain and post-surgical dermal scarring,SRT utilizes Microcurrent Point Stimulation (MPS)—a patented approach grounded in the science of boosting the skin’s intercellular metabolism, protein synthesis, and overall healing functions.

This process reactivates the skin’s inherent ability to regenerate itself.
